The Pannon Park Biodome designed by Paulinyi-Reith & Partners, which is the most recent and most grandiose development of the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, became the best leisure architecture in Europe on this year’s prestigious International Property Awards.
The project winning best leisure architecture in Hungary and a Five Star Awards continued with an outstanding evaluation in the European region awards judging and finished as the best project in its category.
“We are extremely delighted to be the European winners in such a prestigious award. This success indicates to me that we are on the right way and that our fundamental principles, such as sustainability and innovative design methods, have risen our company into the international elite” added Dr. Gergely Paulinyi.
During the planning process Paulinyi-Reith & Partners aimed to create architectural solutions, which maximize the visitors’ experience and provide sufficient living conditions for the animals and plants living in the Biodome.
“While designing Biodome as a part of the Pannon Park project, we used the most advanced technologies and planning tools in order to create an all-around user experience and to make the building as efficient as possible” – outlined Dr. András Reith, Director of Sustainability.
The Pannon Park will reproduce the ancient wildlife of the Carpathian Basin with the most up-to-date animal-keeping solutions. As the construction company of the project, Market Építő Zrt. is operating with the most modern engineering, planning and constructional solutions.
The Biodome itself is a community space with subtropical climate, populated by animals and plants on over 17000 m2. “During the designing process we aimed to create an environment, where visitors will be able to experience the natural habitat of these animals all-year-round in this hill-like hall structure with a closed artificial ecosystem. We have achieved that the animals inside the Biodome will live in the most close-to-nature environmental conditions as possible.” said Dr. Gergely Paulinyi, Chief Executive Officer of P-RP.
With this, Paulinyi-Reith & Partners has won its 5th International Property Award with self-designed buildings. In 2010, Corvin Promenade won in Mixed-use Development Europe, whereas Buddha-Bar Hotel won Best International Hotel Interior Design in 2014. This year besides Pannon Park, Budapest ONE Business Complex and Etele Plaza both developed by Futureal Group were also awarded on national level, which means that Paulinyi-Reith & Partners has become a three-times International Property Awards winner in 2018.
