We are proud to announce that Paulinyi & Partners has been admitted to the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) – thereby further strengthening our professional presence both in the domestic and international architectural and heritage protection scene. Membership makes it possible for us to become key participants in discussions on monument protection, and in addition, to contribute even more effectively to architectural projects that help preserve our culture, heritage, and values.
ICOMOS as an advisor to UNESCO
When we mention ICOMOS, we are speaking about a professional civil organization operating on a global level, which, besides being the cultural heritage protection expert of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, also provides guidance for most countries of the world in developing their own monument protection programs.
The goals of ICOMOS include, among others, the protection of monuments and historical ensembles, the provision of professional frameworks for international exchanges concerning preservation and further development, as well as the domestic implementation of heritage protection resolutions adopted by the organization’s general assembly.
ICOMOS on the domestic scene
The Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS is one of the largest membership bodies of the parent organization. Its objectives largely coincide with those of the international headquarters, but it places special emphasis on strengthening the role of monument protection within domestic culture and positioning Hungarian achievements in an international context.
“For the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS, it is of particular importance to find collaborators and supporters who can identify with the objectives of monument protection and, by virtue of their position, are able to provide professional and financial support as well.” – reads the website of the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS.
Why is ICOMOS membership important?
As a member of the organization, Paulinyi & Partners joins a professional forum where consultations take place about the preservation and modern use of monuments, and it also gains the opportunity to participate in consultative bodies that influence the regulation of cultural heritage preservation. Furthermore, beyond all this, it naturally works with commitment to sustainability, respect for traditions, and monument protection.
Paulinyi & Partners regards the membership as a prestigious professional recognition, and in line with the organization’s vision, proudly continues in the future the work of protecting our values and heritage.
