At Paulinyi & Partners Innovations, we’re combining space technology with urban planning to tackle one of today’s most pressing challenges: making buildings more energy-efficient at the city scale.
A part of the SPACE4Cities program, our Urban Energy Scan service, now in the research phase, will use Earth observation data from satellites and AI to model the energy performance of entire neighbourhoods – not just individual buildings.
How will this happen?
- Our vision includes processing urban coverage satellite data and urban topology
- Our new engine will then make predictive calculations on heating and cooling demand based on real environmental data
- We simulate energy upgrade scenarios across districts, helping cities prioritize their retrofitting investments
The result? Predictive, data-driven decisions supporting climate goals and energy resilience at scale. We are now working on realizing an algorithm and a complex solution to achieve these goals. Thank you for the help in the effort for Fraunhofer IIS!
