In the autumn of 2025, Dr. Paulinyi Gergely, Chairman and CEO of our group, received the 13th District Architectural Award, which is presented since 2013 to architects who have made an outstanding contribution to the architectural development of Budapest’s 13th District. The award represents not only professional recognition, but also a reaffirmation of the conscious, forward-looking urban design philosophy that has defined our work from the very beginning.

In the coming weeks, we will present a comprehensive overview of Paulinyi & Partners’ portfolio in the district: from state-of-the-art office buildings of Váci Road to high-end residential developments that provide a true sense of home.

The Nordic Light project exemplifies the paradigm shift that has come to define the development of the Váci Road office corridor in recent years. Beyond creating new workplaces, the development contributes to the renewal of District XIII through its architectural quality and its role in shaping the urban environment.

Part of the Urban and Functional Renewal of Váci Road

Váci Road is one of Budapest’s most important economic axes, where office architecture has gradually moved beyond a purely functional approach over recent decades. Within this broader transformation, Nordic Light represents a milestone – complementing the metropolitan scale with human-centred design, refined massing, and carefully articulated spatial relationships.

The character of the building ensemble aligns with the urban rhythm of Váci Road, while its subtle articulation and proportions help mitigate the monotony typically associated with dense development. As such, the project is conceived not as an isolated object, but as an active and integral element of the urban fabric.

Scandinavian-Inspired Clarity and Sustainable Performance

A defining principle of the Nordic Light’s architectural concept is the restraint and functionality characteristic of Scandinavian architecture. Light-toned facades, transparent interior spaces, and the deliberate use of natural light create a work environment that is both efficient and human in scale.

Sustainability is embedded in the project as an integrated design approach rather than an add-on. Energy-efficient solutions, advanced building services, and structures designed for long-term, cost-effective operation ensure that the office complex functions responsibly within a dense urban context.

District XIII as a Key Employment Hub in Budapest

District XIII has emerged as one of Budapest’s most significant employment centres, where office, residential, and service functions are balanced within a coherent urban structure. Nordic Light fits seamlessly into this system, reinforcing the district’s economic role and contributing to its evolving urban identity.

The project demonstrates that contemporary office architecture extends well beyond real estate development: it becomes a city-shaping force, influencing patterns of use, workplace culture, and the quality of everyday urban life. Nordic Light is therefore not only a successful office building, but a development that actively supports the long-term, sustainable evolution of both Váci Road and District XIII – fully aligned with the architectural philosophy of Paulinyi & Partners.
