The Architecture of the Future: Toward the Stars!

Over the past decade and a half, space exploration has entered a new era - one that has now reached the field of architecture as well.
In his interview at the Infotér Contech Conference, Dr. Gergely Paulinyi explained that we have entered the “new space age,” where a sector once dominated by state monopolies is increasingly driven by private innovation. This shift opens up new roles for architecture too - for instance, the use of satellite-based Earth observation data provides the foundation for numerous groundbreaking tools and design methods.

Two Pillars, One Future

According to Dr. Paulinyi, the future of humanity rests on two fundamental questions:
First - can we save our planet and reduce the carbon emissions for which the existing building stock is responsible for nearly 40% of global energy use?
And second - are we prepared to go beyond Earth’s boundaries, creating human habitats one day on celestial bodies such as the Moon or Mars?

The Role of Architecture on Earth and Beyond

Sustainable architecture today is not only an environmental challenge but a civilizational responsibility.
The architecture of the future will serve both the preservation of our planet and the creation of conditions for interplanetary life - as architecture itself evolves to a cosmic scale. As Virgil once said: “Sic itur ad astra”Thus one journeys to the stars.

And we believe that the path leading there begins here on Earth - through responsible, innovative, and sustainable thinking. The full interview with Dr. Gergely Paulinyi is available on Infotér’s website:
